DDP Yoga Friday: No Workout
Woke up late and didn't have time. Valuable lesson learned: I can't do DDP Yoga in the mornings unless I get to work on time. No workouts this weekend.

You know, I talked a lot of smack about how “I’m back”. About how that Reality Check post really woke me up and I’m back to being that same guy I was when I first came to Smalltown with all that fire. Well, I’ve decided to put myself to a test this week. A big test.

Last week I brought the Pelcom handymen over to give me an estimate for getting the basement apartment ready. I didn’t want them to know I’ve been living there, so I told them I evicted some upstairs tenants who had a bum living in the basement. Not exactly a lie, right? Anyway, they measured that I’d need about 1500 tiles for the entire floor and priced labor at $2500. $2500 just to put down the tile? So, with materials (99 cents per tile), I’m looking at a base price of $4000 just for the floor?? No thanks. So I decided that I’m gonna do it myself. I’ve already bought 130 tiles and my plan is to use this week to tile the bathroom portion of the basement. Sha will be coming over Wednesday to remind me how to do it, and it should take me the rest of that day and Thursday to get it all done.

To cut costs, I’m tiling directly onto the cement floor with mortar. The Pelcom guys warned that tiling onto the basement floor without a sub-floor (a middle floor that would go in between the cement and the tile) may cause some tile to crack when it gets too cold during the winter. Well, they don’t have a limited budget so screw them. I'm using tile with a PEI level of 4 (thick-ass tile) which doesn't crack as easy. I’ll also be opening up the heating ducts so that the basement is heated and, adding the fact that most of the living room floor will have rugs on top of the tile, I think I’ll be just fine without sub-flooring. On Monday, the Pelcom guys come with the U-Haul to take everything out of the basement except for the futon bed and the washer/dryer. Then I have until next week Monday to finish the bathroom part of the basement. If I can get them to replace all six windows ($40 labor per window) on Monday as well, that would be great.

Also, I now have only 7 days to get the new blog up and running. The hardest part is finishing up the summary for over 500 blog posts of wide ranging topics. I’ve made the separate tabs for each topic, but it’s… it’s not easy. I’ve also come to the realization that I need more time before I start actively trading. I’ve been using the Stock Market Simulator app and I’ve already found one of my biggest issues is patience. Sometimes I pull out of a trade too soon when I'm either winning or losing, and it's had me at a loss. I’ve also been reading a book by Jesse Livermore that talks about developing patience and making my own strategy. I love the way this guy writes, and it’s so strange how the most informative book I’ve read about stocks so far has almost no stock terms or phrases. It makes sense that a book over 70 years old is still incredibly relevant today, and is also a great introduction into trading. So I’m gonna continue trading through the simulator for two more weeks, and then I’ll start trading for real on July 7th.

You know, it’s… it’s interesting. Sometimes I’m about to do something, and then I suddenly drift into thinking about something else. I start looking at the task at hand and wonder how the hell I’m gonna get it done. Just this morning I was staring at the bathroom basement floor and wondering how I’m gonna do it. I thought about this and that and… and then I just smiled and gave a little scoff. See, it doesn’t matter anymore. I no longer question how I’m gonna do something. I’m just gonna fucking do it. I’ll do my best to make it look nice, but thinking about something is not gonna get anything done. All that does is lead me right back into procrastination. Almost 8 years of procrastination. Ugh! I used the Reality Check to play my ego against itself and it worked brilliantly. Know yourself, right? Well, now it’s time to see if this was a temporary fix or if I'm the real deal…
