For a good while now, I’ve been working on making
changes and additions to my blogs, both to this one and the social blog. I think the time has
come to start implementation.
As far as the social blog goes, I’ve been setting up
a massive project to do since January—nicknamed Project Mo Fe Mo Arami (yoruba translation is Know Yourself—MFMA).
The goal of this project is to understand myself better and to define how I’ve
perceived by people. I have 27 social experiments ready to go and have been
researching the studies of Freud, Lacan, and Jung. I want to see what kind of
personality I project to others and how I can manipulate and control it. By
doing this, I can better control my environment and get the reactions I want
from regular people (friends, family) and business people (tenants, mortgage
brokers, underwriters, banks, etc.) alike. The estimated time to complete this
project is 8 months, but it varies depending on what I have time for. In my
social blog, I’ve done 19 experiments total. 16 of them have produced great
results and 3 produced nothing because the planning was flawed. I was
considering putting Project MFMA here, but I have other plans for this blog.
Reviewing this blog daily, I noticed that I don’t
put a lot of technical real estate terms on here. I have vague ideas about what
certain things mean like depreciation, NOI, and debt-to-income ratio, but I don’t
feel I have a firm grasp on that type of technical knowledge. So starting in
June, I plan to start every blog with a real estate term’s definition and
example—just like I used to do in elementary school. Sometimes it will be a
real estate question that I may have and need to find the answers to, which can
be found online or by asking a real estate professional. I’ve used this blog to
help me with P90x and Beachbody Insanity, so I figured it’s time to use this
real estate blog for actual real estate education. Not to say that I haven’t
learned much because I have, but I could be educating myself so much more with
these new additions.
I’ll admit that I’m a bit nervous about Project
MFMA. I see myself in a certain way and I’m not sure how I’ll react if my
perceptions are challenged. But I’ve got to do it. I’m one of those people who
believes that a person both directly and indirectly controls their environment
which is ultimately responsible for the direction his/her life takes. If I can
know myself to the point that I can gain the favor of those I do business with
through simple adjustments and manipulations, the possibilities would be infinite!
Someone like me, who reads this blog to get the inside scoop on the real estate game can only be excited about your new changes!
