Eye Opening Scum

I've thought long and hard about what to do, and it looks as if I'm leaning heavily towards giving them a 3 month extension. That was until I found out what happened today.

I had Sha's guy go over there and fix all the problems there that code enforcement was complaining about. Code enforcement officer came over at 2pm and Laurie the idiot told them about the roof that needs fixing. The roof was NOT amongst the violations listed. So now, the officer may put more violations on the property which will give SSI even more reasons not to pay next month's rent. She reminded me of how much of a scum she is. Laurie is an idiot but an intelligent troublemaker. She did it on purpose, but that may be exactly what I needed her to do. I was blind and didn't see exactly what the problem was with having her stay. Luckily, she was able to be herself and help me see her for the trash that she is.

I was going to write on this blog that I was going to give Laurie another chance. I was going to write that, on Saturday, I was going to Property Chi and telling that I would be extending the lease for another three months, so long as she promises to pay on time, not call code enforcement about anything, and mind the water bill. Instead, it's gonna go something like this.

I'll call her tomorrow (I was going to go over there, but I've seen how confused I get when I talk to a tenant in person) and let her know that I am going to Code Enforcement to see if there are any roof violations that they have on file. If they do, then we simply would not be able to fix it in time for next month, which would mean that SSI can withhold the rent money again. This means that she can't stay there which means that she has to leave. Bear in mind that I'm not going to code enforcement. Instead I'll go to a lawyer and give them the facts of the case and let that be that.

On second thought, I will go there. I have to be able to learn to say what I come to say, have my mind made up, then leave. No confused signals or second thoughts. It's one of the problems I possess that I have to conquer if I'm to be a successful landlord. When my mind is made up, that should be it. I gave her way too much information that last time we talked, some of it that can be used against me in court with a lawyer clever enough. Keeping my mouth shut and making up my mind are probably my two biggest issues that I'll have to deal with, and I'm glad I have this blog for a reference to correct my stupid behavioral patterns.
