Cammy, Agent 000

I went to Ferret Real Estate place to discuss the purchase offer for PPC #3 (Prospective Property Charlie #3) on Monday. Our appointment was for 3pm, but I had snuck out of work and went there at 9:30am in hopes of getting the meeting over with early. But since no one was there, I drove 20 miles (10 there, 10 back) for nothing. Next time, I should probably check office hours. Dumbass.

I got there at 3pm and was greeted by a fat black woman named Cammy. At first it felt good to do business with an African American for once, as almost all of Smalltown is white. But once she opened her mouth I knew she wasn’t too bright. She said that she has property on the south side of Smalltown and has tenants that haven’t paid her in months. Strike one and two. Cammy also uses the word “basically” a lot, a pretty good indicator that someone has no confidence in what they’re saying. Strike three. I mean, she knew the basics of real estate, but whenever I asked her a complicated question about the property she would turn to her co-worker, an Italian woman with a huge rack. The Italian woman seemed to know more about the place than Cammy, so I’m pretty sure handling my case was throwing Cammy a bone. I don’t like being used as a guinea pig so I just tuned her out and focused on the core facts presented to me.

PPC #3 is a 4 unit building in a decent neighborhood that’s going for $65,000. Evidently, the reason the owner doesn’t show the property a lot was because the place was sold twice already and the deal fell through both times, what people in the real estate world call DFT. So he only shows it to people who he feels are serious bidders. When I brought up the fact that Lola said that the listing agent got rid of the listing because the owner made it difficult to show, Cammy didn’t seem to know anything about that. So maybe Lola really was making it all up just to not go through a hassle for such small commission. Lola… that bitch. I was more fired up than ever to get this property.

So she gave me the purchase offer with the seller’s signature, and now I have to take it to my lawyer Marvin Wassle on Wednesday to go through it. As I drove home, I felt pretty good. From the looks of Cammy, this is not going to be easy. Her acting as a dual agent for both myself and the seller will make things complicated and she doesn’t seem bright enough to handle complicated matters. But I got the ball rolling, and that’s the most important thing.
